Taking the object by the hand through an initiatory tale.
Fassen explores the riches of our forgotten artistic heritage by choosing singular objects from the history of forms from antiquity to the present day. The collection develops a typology of furniture and objects with pure lines, and Fassen also creates original objects.
Craftsmanship inspired by the genesis of design.
Fassen incarnates an initiation quest for design. The brand's name is a manifesto in itself. It refers to the verb to grasp (Fassen in German). Its meaning is twofold: to grasp with the hand and to grasp with the mind. To grasp an object is to touch and be touched.
“Art is formative long before it is beautiful... “*.
Every object is charged with knowledge and know-how. It tells a meaningful story created by everyday needs and gestures. Fassen's mission is to share this fascinating story, from documentary exploration to its contemporary retranscription through the handcrafted gesture.
*Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Fassen combines curation and production, his commitment is total.
“Do better with less”. Economy of means is nobility, producing a strong aesthetic, highlighting every gesture, every trace. For past civilizations, this principle was a natural condition of subsistence. Today, this attention to the living must be reaffirmed to preserve our resources. The choice we make for each object we reissue or create is motivated by this challenge.
Producing on a small scale, in small series, cultivates a deep concern for human and material conditions.
All our products are made exclusively in France, in a small workshop in Seine & Marne. The proximity of resources and respect for the organic time of materials are the guarantee of quality that Fassen wishes to pass on to its customers. We work with living things. Wood is a material remarkable for the complexity of its structure and the variety of its qualities. The wood we use comes from local sources and is carefully selected directly at the sawmill. The workshop also has a stock of planks from neighboring forests, which are air-dried.
